imagine a horror movie where you’re trapped in your house with a serial killer but all your lights are clappers

so you’re running for your life from this psychopath while both of you are just aggressively clapping the lights on and off

out of all my 3:00 AM ramblings you guys decide to make this one popular

the reason male comic book fans work themselves into a frenzied rage over “fake geek girls" is because they think they can’t get a girlfriend because of their love for comic books (a.k.a nerdiness). if they accept that geek girls genuinely love comic books, then they’re left with the cold harsh reality that it’s not their nerdiness that makes them unattractive to women, but the fact that they are misogynistic condescending dickbags who need to be avoided AT ALL COSTS

The fact that the ALA shared this link is so gloriously bitter and angry and I love it.

Is there a portmanteau for that? Angritter? Bangry?

Okay yes but HERE’S THE DEAL.
You absolutely should not pay $120 for an Amazon subscription service. Just. Don’t do it.
But you know what is a SUPER GOOD IDEA??
Requesting (wait for it) the books you want to read! (wait there’s more) FROM YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY.
This is useful to authors, this is useful to other readers, and it is useful to libraries. Libraries exist to be used. They get shut down at least in part because no one uses them.
If you want to read a book that’s SO INDIE you can’t get it through the library it would not kill you to shell out $2.99 for it tbh. But that’s almost never going to be the case.
REQUEST THE BOOK. AUTHORS LOVE THAT TRUST ME.

This is very true! Even small-ass publishers should be set up to distribute through OverDrive (which is the main distributor to libraries). Sometimes your library won’t be able to get the book you request (budgets, politics in their county, etc can cause issues), but if they can, they will, and happily. (And I think most publishers — LT3 does — sell their books at a discount to libraries, too. ^^)
